| 課程簡介 | Proton beam therapy (PBT) represents a cutting-edge modality in precision radiotherapy, distinguished by its unique physical property—the Bragg Peak—which allows for the maximal dose to be deposited precisely at the tumor site, while significantly sparing the surrounding normal tissues. This physical advantage translates into reduced unnecessary radiation exposure, leading to fewer treatment-related side effects and enabling better preservation of patients’ quality of life and potentially improved therapeutic outcomes. The Proton and Radiation Therapy Center at Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital began clinical operations in October 2018. Since then, we have successfully treated ~3,000 patients with a wide spectrum of malignancies. Our team has continuously integrated and refined various advanced techniques to optimize treatment precision and safety. These innovations include three-dimensional image-guided proton therapy, respiratory motion control strategies, vertebral artery-sparing approaches for nasopharyngeal carcinoma and head and neck cancers, and multi-leaf collimator (MLC)-based beam delivery to enhance treatment efficiency. In this presentation, I will share our institutional experience, highlighting key clinical cases, technical advancements, and insights gained from implementing these novel strategies in routine practice. Through this, we aim to contribute to the growing global evidence on the clinical benefits and practical applications of proton therapy. |
