| 課程大綱 | Acute intermittent porphyria (AIP) is the most common hepatic porphyria worldwide. It is caused by the deficiency of hydroxymethylbilane synthase (HBMS; also termed porphobilinogen deaminase, PBGD), an enzyme involved in the heme biosynthetic pathway. Clinically, AIP is characterized by recurrent attacks of neuroviseral crisis. Delay in diagnosis and implementation of appropriate treatments for AIP can be fatal or cause permanent neurological damage. The goal of this lecture is to introduce pathogenic mechanism and molecular genetics of AIP, improve clinician’s recognition of the symptoms and signs, and discuss strategies in diagnosis and acute and long-term management options to improve prognosis for patients with AIP. |
